The Philipsburg National Register Historic District consists of dozens of beautiful Victorian style homes along Centre and Presqueisle Streets and the diverse brick architecture of Front Street. The Philipsburg Historical Foundation Museum located on the third floor of the Moshannon Building on Front Street showcases artifacts, photographs and maps of Philipsburg’s past. Philipsburg’s history, however, is not limited to the Historic District. The current site of the Moshannon Valley Enterprise Center Incubator was once the largest cigar production facility in the United States.
The recently restored Simler House located on the corner of Second and Laurel Streets was the home of one of the original settlers of the Moshannon Valley. The Old Union Church on Presqueisle street was built in 1820 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Every summer, Philipsburg celebrates its history with Heritage Days. This annual event draws more than 12,000 people to Philipsburg to celebrate.
